This week many theaters across the country are airing Citizen Kane on the big screen. For a movie that came out in 1941, this is a chance for movie fans like myself to see what many call the best movie ever made on the three story screen. Well I got to see it. This is a treat even for those who may not be totally familiar with the film. It is still a film that influences films today. It is the Cadillac of films as new filmmakers are always trying to figure out how to make their 'Citizen Kane'. Also, black and white movies still look best on the silver screen. When the light hits the windows, or the smoke (everybody smoked in black and white movies for a reason) it just looks beautiful. You have to wonder why they ever started making color films in the first place as good as those films looked. Orson Welles does a great job acting in the film and maybe only made one other film in his life that was as entertaining, put together, and as influential (Touch of Evil....and it had to be restored after the studio dicked it up).
Look up the film for film times near you.
