November 22, 1988, Ruthless Records releases Eazy Duz It. Why in the world would this be something we would put here on PHTV? We have always tried to bring stories of Pop Culture, create worlds never seen, entertain, and sometimes just mess with you. This one we are gonna talk about because the Dr himself talked to Eazy E on the phone once years ago.
When the Dr was young and coming up he was a hot shot DJ working small radio stations trying to make a name for himself. He found himself a friend who dug a lot of the same music he did. This was radio in the arly 90's so almost everybody seemed like they were into way old shit, like Steve Miller Band, Pink Floyd and Hotel California. Not the rest of teh Eagles mind you, just that song. Or they were into anything wearing a flannel shirt and looked like they hadn't showered since labor day. Nirvana had come, Alice in Chains had come, and this was the rise of The Offspring, Live, Sponge, and then even further down the rabbit hole with the Presidents of the United States of America. The Dr liked Journey if you were going older and he liked some of the rock of the day but still like some of the music that could get you pregnant. This friend inroduced him to some stuff just coming out. He introduced him to a guy out of New York named the Notorious BIG. He shared with him Craig Mack for the first time.
Then one day his buddy was gone. Up and left his girlfriend and moved to LA. The Dr was on the air and got a phone call from his buddy. He had gone to work for Ruthless Records and had shipped a load of CD's and records the Dr's way. In this was MC Ren stuff and other Ruthless staples. Then he says, 'Hold on. Eric wants to say hi.' The Dr and Eric talked for a few minutes and he couldn't have been nicer. Afterwards the Dr said that Eric guy was real nice. His buddy told him, "Hey fucker, that was Eazy".
It wasn't more than a year later that Eazy E passed away from AIDS. It was an effect on the Dr's life. You never know who you are going to come across and you never know how much time you have left. Don't waste it, don't procrastinate, and make sure if you meet your maker tomorrow that you held nothing back.
